Somatic Therapy

Somatic therapy is a form of psychotherapy that emphasizes the connection between the mind and body in the healing process. This approach recognizes that emotional and psychological issues can manifest in the body as physical symptoms or tension. Somatic therapy aims to address and resolve these issues by focusing on the body’s sensations, movements, and experiences.

Somatic Experiencing (SE):

SE focuses on releasing traumatic energy and tension stored in the body by facilitating the completion of the body’s natural fight, flight, or frozen responses.

Dance/Movement Therapy

While not exclusively somatic, dance/movement therapy uses movement as a means of self-expression and exploration. It can help individuals connect with their emotions and release tension through creative movement.

TRE involves a series of simple exercises designed to activate a natural shaking or tremoring response in the body. This shaking helps release accumulated tension and stress, particularly related to trauma.

Combining elements of yoga and psychotherapy, Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy uses assisted yoga postures, breathwork, and dialogue to facilitate self-discovery, emotional release, and personal transformation.

EFT involves tapping on specific meridian points while focusing on emotional issues. It is believed to help release blocked energy and reduce emotional distress.

Various forms of breathwork, such as Holotropic Breathwork and Rebirthing, involve intentional breathing patterns to access altered states of consciousness, release emotional blockages, and promote healing.

Tension and Trauma Release Exercises (TRE) is a form of therapy that uses shaking movements to release stored tension and trauma from the body. It is based on the idea that the body retains tension in response to trauma, and that shaking can help to release this tension.

Grounding and Centering is a form of therapy that helps people feel more grounded and present in their bodies. This can be helpful for people who are feeling disconnected from their bodies or who are experiencing flashbacks or dissociation.
